I rocked this necklace at Valentine's Day dinner last night (along with a pink tulle skirt from non other than the Lauren Conrad collection at Kohl's...ha!) and at one point during the evening B matter-of-factly told me I looked like a goddess in it.
Now *that* is a pretty solid fashion win, amirite? Thank you for once again helping me feel fabulous, Jenny!

It's been awhile since I've posted a Fashionista piece on TGL but my new Patchuli Floc platform wedges by Melissa have re-inspired me to dive back in.
Heritage Row has nailed, yet again. I took one look at these navy blue and white (technically a pale yellow, but I like to think of them as a sexy nod to my PSU roots) beauties during my boutique stop on Saturday and stuttered "Jenny. Me. Mine. Feet. Pretty. Now..." A quirky and comfortable mix of rubber (like fancy jellies!) and velvetly cloth, I've managed to keep my normal office pace going without any ouch-owie-oofda-eeks that heels have been known to give me by mid-day (and by mid-day I mean mid-morning. I am, at heart, a flats girl). My coworker asked me "Is it me, or have you traded in all your shoes for super heels lately? You're so tall now." Well Scotty, my new Marketing role at Weebly requires much less racing around/up and down stair action so yes, I have been rocking some pretty high wedges and boots. (I may have also added, jokingly: "I just read Lean In and am using the height to confidently assert my new found feminist power and be...well...physically larger than my male colleagues." To which he blushed and said "Oh. Ok. I feel like I need to get heels, too.") Ha! Special thanks to Jenny for stopping by my house to pair my new babies with a handful of outfits already in my closet! It's like they were always meant to be mine ;) In Gratitude, Trish This weekend my dear friend Jenny celebrated her shop, Heritage Row's, 3rd birthday! In honor of this exciting and well deserved accomplishment, TGL has paired with my favorite boutique for a fun little giveaway. To win these goodies, simply give Heritage Row a "Like" on Facebook and wish them a Happy Birthday in the comments section below! Big thanks to my friend and coworker, Natalie, for her great modeling skills! The bag looked perfect with her bold, blue blouse :) Winner will be selected at random and announced next week! Be Well, Trish Trish and I were chatting the other day about how stressful packing for vacation can be. I always seem to go overboard on clothes that I don't even touch, or worse, I don't have what I need. So we decided to team up for her upcoming vacation. Trish emailed me the itinerary for her trip, I checked the weather, and started digging through her closet. Trish had just purchased a few pieces from my store - Heritage Row, that she wanted to bring on her trip, and the rest was sitting in her closet! With lots of walking, and potential coo coo temperature changes, Trish had a few outfit requests:
I would love to answer any of your style questions or even help you pack! Check out Heritage Row's Facebook page for your style inspiration!
Best, Jenny heritagerow@yahoo.com I've been a bit more mindful of my wardrobe the past couple weeks (it gets kinda hard to give a hoot when you work in an office where yoga pants and a hoodie are an acceptable Tuesday ensemble) so I thought I'd pop a few quick pics of my favorites up on the blog! I worked for Jenny twice last month, which probably helped in my desire to give the ol' closet a fresh once over. Day 1 at Heritage Row was pretty sunny, so I pulled out a BCBG skirt and my honey comb tights. A red-lipstick-and-leather-jacket number was born. I struggled with the decision of are light booties and dark tights OK? but then just decided hey, *I* like the way it looks...and that's reason enough to wear it! Snagged this great new necklace while I was there, too! Day 2 of working for Jenny was much, much cooler outside. I went a more snuggly route in an Anne Taylor sweater, leggings and slouchy, old Steve Madden boots. I'm loving my new heather grey skirt from Marine Layer. Made locally, this skirt feels like I'm wearing a cozy old t-shirt on my legs... Pop on a faux-leather coat by Jack, and this casual get up worked wonderfully for a Fall-weather day in SF. I hardly ever "cheat" on Jenny by shopping at other local boutiques, but Marmalade is one exception we both agree on. Their staff is so genuine and sweet--I always manage to find a handful of super cute pieces... ...like this perfect Hawaii and Australia summer dress! I've been thinking of snagging a mustard yellow cardigan for months and am so glad I made the purchase plunge with this one. Peplum is in! Green is my favorite color. Hence.... Speaking of my new mustard sweater.... The Pinspiration: My version: And a more casual option the following week: Happy Friday, ya'll! In Gratitude, Trish It's a sun-shiny, super warm day here in SF (forecast of 80, woot!) so I whipped out my Joe's jean shorts, a flowy bird print tunic and Boutique 9 cage heels in an attempt to be summer-rocker-chic.... I was slightly wary of this little diddy at first (i.e. am I "cool" enough to wear jean cut offs and heels?) but eventually said eff it, I'm just gonna own this look.
Sometimes, it's all in the attitude :) In Gratitude, Trish So here's the skinny: I hosted a networking event this past Saturday for work at a local bar/club and needed an outfit that was appropriate for both the networking and the club part of it. One of the many cool things about being a chica working in the tech-start up industry is the ability to have some fun with fashion--definitely lots of room to play with colors and accessories as there is nothing even close to a dress code in my field. Feel like wearing yoga pants to work? Namaste! Found a vintage lace skirt that looks amazing with your new heels? Rock it! Will any of the men in your office notice either way? Probably not! Regardless, it's nice to have such flexibility and creative wiggle room :) Here's what I came up with: It's hard to tell in the crappy iPhone pic, but those pants are a seriously awesome shade of cobalt blue. And they're stretchy! Perfect for upping the comfort level (and beer drinking...let's be serious). Jenny has taught me to love the ol' pop-on-a-funky-necklace-to-spice-up-an-otherwise-un-special look trick. This necklace was a whopping $28 at her shop and made all the difference in my outfit. I can't even tell you how many compliments I got on the pants as well as the necklace from both men and women (read: a lot)! It made my night that much better. And now, as even greater proof of my true dork status, pre-party photo booth testing results... ....(hey, I'm just being thorough at my job).... And later in the evening dragging poor Laurel into my shenanigans (doesn't she look like a total bunny boss in that first pic?).... In Gratitude,
Trish The only thing that would make these new-ish (thanks for the hand me down, Jenny!! I hit the jackpot having a stylist bestie out here!) bright red pants even cuter? The Dolce Vita booties I've been drooling over for a week now.... Hey Santa, can you come a liittttle early this year?
In Gratitude, Trish Thanks to the super generosity of my fabulous friend Deva, I was able to attend Sunday's lineup at Outside Lands. Naturally, I needed major help on what to wear to this oh so popular outdoor music festival. Jenny to the rescue! She put this look together in about 3 minutes at her shop using a jacket and boots I already owned :) I had to slightly modify it come Sunday (added a basic, neutral sweater) simply because August in Golden Gate Park = foggy and cold...layers are KEY when it comes to SF weather. You just never know if you're going to be schvitzing or freezing! And yup, those would be gloves I'm holding in my hands in the 2nd side shot :) I had an awesome time at the park...even got pretty up close and personal to Jack White! Thanks so much, Deva!!
In Gratitude, Trish I got "hot mama", "really nice", "so amazing" and "lovely" compliments from co-workers today...not a half bad start to the weekend! My secret to putting together this hipster-Russian-ballerina look? Red lipstick and not having any other clean clothes :-/ Happy Friday!
Ladies night at Heritage Row last week was a smashing success! What a fun way to spend an evening with some of your favorite females :) HUGE thanks to everyone who came out (and to Jenny for graciously hosting us)! And since the weather gods have blessed SF with massive amounts of glorious sunshine, I decided it was the perfect time to whip out this hippie-Trish via Heritage Row look: Happy Friday!
In Gratitude, Trish With a rainy forecast looming in my future I decided sunny today should be the day I rock my new dress from Heritage Row. Naturally, I needed approval from my stylist, first... Dress: Plastic Island, Belt: ADA, Boots: Steve Madden, Jean Jacket: 10 year old Abercrombie guy (hey, if it still fits....), Bag: Tano.
I'm headed to a concert tonight with some work friends (it's a band I've never heard of and am completely blanking on now...oops) courtesy of tickets generously given by one of our awesome recruiters. I think this little number makes the perfect Thursday night outing look :) Once again, hugely grateful for Jenny keeping my wardrobe current and cute and affordable! In Gratitude, Trish Oh Pinterest, how I love thee. Remember when jean on jean used to be totally cool? And then it was totally uncool? And now it's slowly becoming totally cool again? The inspiration: The attempt to copy: Love my tiny, gold plated wrap bracelet, courtesy of the Brentwood Farmer's Market a year and a half ago. Do you like my vacuum nozzle in this photograph? I like to trip over it for 3 days until I finally decide to use it to clean. Kinda my "thing". Also love my Franco Sarto boots (that I got from Macy's for a zillion percentages off and free shipping...with Jenny's approval, of course): Ironically, Jenny had the same Pinterest inspiration on the same day! Here's her even cuter variation: Dang she is good at this. She also recently put together (using things already in my closet!) this (Velvet navy blue wrap dress, Express jacket, Zodiac boots): And this (BCBG dress, Press sweater, French Connection tights, ADA wrap belt, Sam Edelman heels)...which is 100% from Heritage Row!: I was so excited that she found a way to make the very summery BCBG dress work for winter with the Press sweater and honeycomb tights additions. I was hesitant at first but thankfully she forced me to try it all on before completely nix-ing it. Sometimes pieces really do just need a body! It's 64 and sunny today so I figured this was the perfect outfit to celebrate the warm weather :)
Are you convinced to give her styling talents a try yet? In Gratitude, Trish Dang I love having a best friend that is a stylist... This is a really crappy phone photo (and jeez louise my mirror is so smudgey! have I never heard of Windex?!) but you know if Jenny approves, it really must be cute! In Gratitude,
Trish The highlight of my day yesterday? Hands down, seeing your gratitude filled responses trickle into my inbox. Thank you so, so much to everyone who submitted--your raw honesty and beautiful sentiments helped to make my day especially wonderful. While it was certainly hard to choose just one winner (I'm thinking I may need to do this kind of contest again soon!), Jenny and I both agreed that the following response was the perfect mix of light hearted and genuine; moving, hopeful and goose-bump inducing. Congrats (and THANK YOU) to Elyse for the wonderful reminder of what being a Grateful Lifer is all about: "Harry Potter. Yes, I said it. This year I am most grateful for the last and final Harry Potter movie. Now bare with me. Although my love for the magical world of HP is seemingly boundless and I did order the complete set of books from my 1st grade class's scholastic book order, my gratitude for the last Harry Potter movie is based on more than potions and spells. The true magic of seeing the last movie in the series happened after the movie was over, when I looked at my mother in the parking lot and saw tears in her eyes. Although the movie did have some heart-warming moments that made me misty, I felt like her tears were based on something else, something deeper. When I asked her what was wrong she smiled at me through her tears and told me that nothing was wrong, that finally everything was right. She told me that seeing this last movie with my brother and I was a secret milestone in her life, one that she didn't know she would ever reach. Ten years ago when we went to see the first Harry Potter movie together she had been newly diagnosed with breast cancer. She did not think that she would ever get to see the last movie with us. Ten years, 7 movies, chemo therapy, radiation, a mastectomy, hair loss, another diagnosis, healing, growing, and loving later we stood in the parking lot hugging and crying, thankful that we were there together. So thank you Harry Potter for making 2011 an unforgettable year filled with love, milestones, and more than a little magic." Elyse, I am so happy to hear of your mother's positive turn in health. What a super rad milestone you were able to reach together! As a huge HP fan myself, I can't think of a cooler way to celebrate kicking cancer's ass than with my buddies Harry, Ron, Hermoine, all the Weasleys and Hogwarts Professors, Luna, Neville (God bless his growth into quite the little hunky dream) and Hagrid. Thank you for sharing with us, sweet girl. I'm picturing love and light continuing to pour into your mom for sustained health--may you both be blessed with many joy filled years to come. In Gratitude, Trish |
