Day 8: This city.
Considering how frequently I talk about my love of San Francisco, the folks I've been blessed to meet and connect with here, as well as the surrounding awesomeness that is the Bay Area, it should come as no surprise this city makes its way onto my 30 days of thanks list.
Living here has been one of the grandest adventures of my life. I would not trade my time spent in San Francisco for anything and I am deeply grateful for how things have unfolded since moving 3 years ago--the good, the bad, the ugly, the joyous...all of it.
Speaking authentically, who knows how much longer I will end up calling this corner of the world home. In trusting the process my heart led me here, and in even greater trust I do believe it will lead me back east eventually. Maybe even soon. Time will tell, of course, but regardless of my days left inhabiting the west I know I can sleep easy knowing I made the absolute most of my time here.
Frankly, I've carpe diem'ed the sh*t outta California.
A friend of mine recently gave a piece of advice to another friend regarding the success of his relationship; a tip for finding that great connection in another--he said, simply, you have to be open to it. Because I was so open to being here--to saying yes to so much and so many--I am a better woman for it. Being open has allowed light, laughter and love to come rushing in; it has shifted my perspective and deepened my connection to life and the people who fill it...who make it worth living.
In my soul I know that although I'm not from here, I got here as soon as I could--As soon as my spirit was really ready.
Thank you for opening your heart to me, San Francisco...and for helping to crack mine wide open, too.
